10-Year-Old Surfer Helps Save Distressed Swimmer at Dana Point’s Doheny Beach

A 10-year-old surfer from Chino Hills, Colton Nordella, was enjoying his last summer-vacation Doheny surf session recently at Doheny State Park in Dana Point when he quickly switched gears from being a surfer to being a life guard.

According to Champion Newspapers in Chino Hills, the waves were bigger than usual when a distressed swimmer approached Colton in the water asking for help. Colton brought the man onto his surfboard and helped keep him calm as a set of big waves washed over them. The young Colton and his friends then proceeded to help get the man, in his 50s, to shore where life guards assisted, ultimately complimenting Colton for a “good save.”
